Semi-frameless uses a slim frame around the perimeter of the fixed panel only. It is a more affordable, watertight option that still reads modern. Frameless uses thick tempered glass with minimal hardware and is what most Kent customers choose for new builds and remodels because it shows the tile work and reads as a higher-end finish. We specialize in custom frameless and semi-frameless enclosures and don't install standard framed aluminum-channel doors.

Standard clear glass has a slight green tint that becomes more visible at thicker sizes and on larger panels. Low-iron glass (sometimes sold as Starphire or Ultra-Clear) removes the iron content responsible for the tint, so the glass reads truly clear. It's a common upgrade on high-end bathrooms with white or light-colored tile, where the green tint of standard glass is most noticeable. Expect roughly a 15 to 25% upcharge.

Usually yes. If the hardware is in good condition we spec a matching tempered panel to fit the existing hinges and clips. If the hardware is also failing, we recommend replacing the full unit so the warranty covers the whole assembly. We'll tell you which path makes sense at the measure visit, not after.

No. Replacing or adding a shower door is not a permitted item in any Puget Sound jurisdiction we work in. (Glass railings over 30" above grade are different. Those typically do require permits, and we can pull them on your behalf.)

Yes, that's the normal case. A replacement is a half-day visit: the old door comes out, the opening is cleaned up, and the new unit goes in. We tell you the exact sealant cure time before the shower goes back in service.
